Nokia selects dubstep tune to install on 100Mil+ handsets

A Nokia jury has selected Italian DJ Valerio Alessandro Sizzi’s dubstep remix of the original Nokia ringtone (“Gran Valse”) as the winner of a recent user contest.

The 24 second ditty will be preloaded onto 100 Million+ handsets in 2012. Which means avoiding India and other emerging economies, as well as most western nations’ Chinatowns, for the next few years.

I haven’t heard the sub-bass fidelity on the new N-Series, but I’d reckon the pocket device’s sub-woofers might have trouble accurately representing the artist’s vision.

Interestingly enough, the Nokia contest jury picked the track as the winner even though it wasn’t the highest voted, receiving only 1394 votes. The winner by a massive margin was an off-key “duh na na nuh nuh” vocal rendition by some guy, with 39,494 votes.

My vote went to the 2nd runner up, a sunrise banger “Progressive Nokia” which added a rising synth and 4/4 club beat to a tinny rendition of the original Nokia ringtone.
