Nokia selects dubstep tune to install on 100Mil+...
A Nokia jury has selected Italian DJ Valerio Alessandro Sizzi’s dubstep remix of the original Nokia ringtone (“Gran Valse”) as the winner of a recent user contest.
The 24 second ditty will be preloaded onto 100 Million+ handsets in 2012. Which means avoiding India and other emerging economies, as well as most western nations’ Chinatowns, for the next few years.

iPhone 3GS: Vodafone vs. Optus
[Disclaimer: If it needs to be disclaimed, I used to work for a digital agency on Vodafone, once upon a time. At that time I chose Optus iPhone 3G, but no longer.]
I sold my Optus iPhone 3G before leaving on a 9 months trip overseas, thinking the 3G reception wouldn’t be so great in the jungles of South America.
When I returned, I had to decide whether to stay with Optus, who I’d...

JuraSEOic Park - Velociroflcoptersaurus Battle
Have you heard about this crazy Velociroflcoptersaurus competition taking place?
Basically, the term “Velociroflcoptersaurus” didn’t exist about a month ago, then some Sydney digital media types decided to hold a SEO competition to see who copuld optimise for that term the best.
My vote is on Shifted Pixels, who even have a velociroflcoptersaurus blog.
p.s Nick, you owe me :)

[ValleyWag] Which iPhone apps make the most money? →
Valleywag re-posts Medialet’s financial projection on which iPhone apps are bringing in the most coin. Of the 12mil+ downloaded so far, they’re using the amount of reviews of each app to guage its “relative volume”, i.e a certain percentage of downloaders will review.
I’d say this is a flawed approach, because as the chart shows, it’s the niche offerings (a...

Oh, those were the DAYS, man. As a young turk, living and working in Whistler-Blackcomb, British Columbia, I’d often scurry across the lower trails of Blackcomb mountain to the Marriott or Whistler Chateau Marmont resort for a NINJA HOT-TUB RAID.

What does your Brand-Day timeline look like? →
Over on Buzzfeed (a web+MSM buzz/meme aggregator) someone has posted an amazing creation: key brand-experience moments in their life. From the moment they wake up till the moment they sleep, what does a typical day look like to them in respect to the brands they consume, experience and even discuss? Challenge: What’s your brand timeline today? You’d need to do this off the top of your...

Obama Draws Estimated Crowd Of 75,000 In Portland... →
“Portland fire officials estimate 60,000 people are packed inside the park proper and another 10-15,000 are watching outside the gates. Spectators are lining the bridge behind Obama and watching, bikini-clad, from boats on the river.” It’s no secret that i dig this guy’s style, and it seems like most of Oregon do too. He’s going to dominate that thing, Oregon is so...

Sniffing out a fruity trend in cocaine →
“Drug rings have occasionally sold cocaine mixed with candy powder, but investigators said the new product was significantly more sophisticated and lucrative. Cocaine cut with an added flavoring is less potent, but the 1½ pounds seized last month were a full-strength powder into which strawberry, coconut, lemon and cinnamon flavoring had been chemically synthesized.”
GTA IV - Great in-game music marketing
Everyone loves the music and banter on Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto radio stations. And apparently the new Grand Theft Auto IV game will allow you to call up the “radio station” from your character’s in-game cellphone, and “request the name of that track”. Then, the good folks at Amazon MP3 (in real life) will email you (or SMS to your real mobile)...

VIDEO: Superdeluxe “vocoder” spoof of Akon, T-Pain (Guest appearance by Snoop) I am a fan of vocoders, for the most part. I mean, where would Daft Punk be without vocoders (and Moroder, moreover)? BUT, there’s a terrifying trend in the Hip-Hop R&B crossover scene where vocalists like Akon and T-Pain seem to be using it just a tad too often. THOUGHT: Maybe it’s so their...
